"Legacy" was created in an attempt to expand the definition of the Documentary. Through hosiery, it tells the stories of women in history who scaled both literal and figurative heights to redefine genders, cultures, races … in ways that are incredibly relevant today. Director, Margo Weathers knew a film about them had to encompass the same rule-breaking spirit, so it boldly challenges us to look past a pretty face to find that more lies there. Legacy is a Trojan Horse. With the surface appearance of a fashion film, we find education inside. If a Ken Burns Documentary and an issue of French Vogue had a baby - it might look like this. With evocative visual fragments and verbal brevity, Legacy entices, encourages further investigation, and beautifully broadens this film category.
